Preparation and help for expatriation and long stay abroad

Changing your environment is usually loaded with hopes for a new start, widening your views or feeling more suited to another culture. You can dream for years to go study or live in a specific country, take cultural and language courses, watch videos about the way of life there or even had a few holidays in the coutry... yet, you can easily feel overwehlmed, disappointed, isolated or unable to fit because the real daily life (or your new self) is not what you expected. A psychological and intercultural preparation before leaving or some help when you are there, can help you learn what to expect, how to behave and what to do to enjoy fully your staying and not to waste this opportunity.

Social skills for France

For foreigners, even with great language skills, the tiniest interactio of the daily life can bare numerous misunderstanding leading to the feeling of not being able to fit in. Say 'Bonjour', 'merci', 'au revoir' in the bakery shop can be obvious in one culture and not necessary at all in another one, to sniff or blow your nose, talk about you salary on a date, etc. You can easily be judged in a negative way for a tiny cultural difference that other people are not aware of. According to the cultural background, differences may be subtle or huge but they are always here and can be learned in order to avoid these faux-pas that you didn't even noticed.
